Ms. Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, M.A., L.L.M.- Born on 20.06.1958. Topped the Delhi Judicial Services Examination, 1984. Worked as Civil Judge from 1985-1987 and Metropolitan Magistrate from 1987-1994.Also worked as Secretary, Legal Aid & Advice Committee for three years from 04.06.1991.Again worked as Civil Judge from May, 1994 alongwith the assignment of Secretary Legal Aid and Advice Committee. Worked on deputation as Competent Authority/Slums, Municipal Corporation of Delhi. During this period she authored a book titled "An Exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clerarance) Act,1956 which is exhaustive Guide to the Slum Areas (Improvement & Clearance) Rules, 1957." Posted as ACMM/ Patiala House Courts and dealt with the trial of cases under FERA and Customs Act and also important Hawala Case, Match Fixing Case, etc. From 18-04-2000 to 16-08-2000 worked as an Addl. Sessions Judge at Patiala House Courts and dealt with dowry, rape and Cases under the Explosive Substances Act.

From 16-08-2000 to 23-06-2003 worked as Addl. District and Session Judge at Tis Hazari and also as Chief Metropolitian Magistrate of Delhi and looked after the entire Administrative work of the courts of Metropolitan Magistrates at Tis Hazari, Patiala House and Karkardooma Court Complexes. During this period, special Courts in Jail were also held. Also worked as Secretary, Press Council of India, which is a Statutory body established by Parliament under the Press Council Act, 1978. Also worked as Member of the working group on Misleading Advertisements Export Committee on "Gender and Media" and Chief Vigilance Officer for Press Council of India.

Took over as Member Secretary , Delhi Legal Services Authority, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi w.e.f. 06-12-2004 and has been actively involved in rendering valuable services by providing free Legal Aid and advice to poor, down trodden , women, S.C., S.T., handicapped, Children, Labour/ Factory Workers and other weaker sections of the society
